Mrs. John Hyatt, Hillsboro was called to Lafayette Saturday by the death of her brother, Ralph Keefer, who died at Hines Hospital, Ill, early Thursday morning, after more than a year's illness. He was seriously ill last summer but receovered sufficiently to return to Lafayette and resume his work until about 3 weeks ago when he gain entered the hospital.
Mr. Keefer born July 2, 1892, was the son of Joseph and Mary Keefer, at Fairbury, Ill. After the death of the father the family moved to Rob Roy and later moved to Attica. He was married to Miss Cecil Moore of
Kingman on May 1, 1916 and they resided in Kingman until six years ago when they moved to Lafayette. The widow; two sons, Chelsea now home from the US Army on furlough and Milton, at home; two daughters, Colletta and Maribelle at home; four sisters, Mrs. John Hyatt, Hillsboro; Mrs. Victor Levor, Sr, Attica; Mrs. Cooper LaBaw, Hobart; and Miss Ada Keefer, Huntington Park, Calif; and two brothers, Phil Keefer, Attica and Iva Keefer, Portsmouth, Va survive.
Funeral service was held from the family residence in Lafayette, Sunday afternoon with burial in Kingman Cemetery.

Ralph Arleigh Keefer, 52, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Thursday Aug 31, 1944 at Veteran’s Hospital, Hines, Illinois. He was the son of Joseph F. and Mary McClain Keefer, born July 2, 1892 at Fairbury, Illinois moving to Attica, Indiana when a small boy. He was married May 1, 1915 to Miss Cecil Moore of Kingman, Indiana at which place they made their home for their home for a number of years, moving to Lafayette six years ago. Serving his country for 21 months in WWI he was a member of Lafayette Post No 11 of American Legion. Five children were born, one dying in infancy, surviving are the widow and four children: Chelsea M. of AAF, Maxton Air Base, NC; Colletta, Maribel and Milton at home; also the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Victor Lever, Sr, Phil of Attica; Mrs. John Hyatt of Hillsboro, Indiana; Mrs. CE LeBaw of Hobart, Indiana and Charles I of Portsmouth,, Virginia also Ada Keifer of Huntington Park, California. One brother, Edgar E. preceded him in death two years ago. Services were held at the family home, Sunday at 1:00 o’clock, interment at Fraternal cemetery at Kingman. - kbz

Burial services were held for Ralph Keefer of Lafayette, who died Thursday at the Hines Veteran Hospital, Chicago, at the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery at 3:30 p.. Sunday. Pall bearers were Guy Wilkey, Gilbert Sowers, Lavern Cory, Byron Grismore, Rollie Gray and Lee Clements.

Ralph Keefer, a former Attica resident, who moved to Lafayette about six years ago, died at the Hines Hospital, Chicago, Thursday morning about 6:30 o’clock. He had been ill over a year, and though he was seriously ill for some time last summer at the Hines Hospital, he recovered sufficiently after returning home to resume work last winter. He became worse this summer and about three weeks ago was again taken to the hospital where his death occurred.
Mr. Keefer was born July 2, 1892 at Fairbury, Ill., the son of Joseph and Mary Keefer and after the death of his father, he accompanied his mother to Indiana for residence. They lived in Rob Roy prior to moving to Attica. Mr. Keefer was associated several years in the painting and papering business with his brother-in-law, Cooper LaBaw, in Attica. He was married May 1, 1916 to Miss Cecil Moore of Kingman and they made there home in that town until six years ago when they took up residence in Lafayette. Mr. Keefer was a veteran of the First World War.
Surviving are the widow; two sons, Chelsea, now home from the U. S. Army on a furlough and Milton, at home, and two daughters, Colletta and Maribelle, both at home. Mrs. Victor Levor Sr. of Attica, Mrs. Cooper LaBaw of Hobart and Miss Ada Keefer of Huntington Park, Calif., are sisters and Phil Keefer of Attica and Ivan Keefer of Portsmouth, Va., are brothers of the deceased. Funeral services will be held at one o’clock Sunday afternoon at the family residence at 2221 North 20th Street, Lafayette, with burial in the cemetery at Kingman. – thanks to “S”
